This Privacy Policy explains how Joseph Herbert ("ZoneScore," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the ZoneScore website and zoning-lookup service (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide. The core lookup does not require an account. You may voluntarily provide:

An email address, if you sign up to be notified about a saved or watched address;
The contents of a "Report it" submission or feedback you send us (which may include an address and your notes);
Any information you include when you contact us.

Information collected automatically. When you use the Service we collect, on an anonymized and/or aggregated basis:

Search activity — the addresses and areas looked up (used to operate and improve the Service);
Interaction and click data, including clicks on outbound resource links (see Section 4);
Device and log data — IP address, browser type, pages viewed, timestamps, and referring pages;
Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 6).

2. How We Use Information

To provide, maintain, and operate the Service and return zoning results;
To measure and improve accuracy, coverage, and performance;
To produce aggregated and anonymized usage analytics and engagement metrics, including aggregate click counts on outbound resource links;
To send you notifications you have requested (such as watched-address alerts);
To detect, prevent, and address abuse, security issues, and technical problems;
To comply with legal obligations.

We may create and retain a de-identified, aggregated behavioral dataset derived from usage of the Service. This dataset is not designed to identify individual users.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

With service providers (such as hosting, mapping/geocoding, and analytics providers) who process it on our behalf and are bound to protect it;
When required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and property;
In connection with a business transaction (such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets), consistent with this Policy.

4. Outbound Links, Resources & Affiliate Disclosure

The Service may display links to third-party websites and resources (for example, title companies, attorneys, lenders, inspectors, or permitting resources). These links are provided for your convenience as resources. Unless expressly stated, they are not endorsements and do not reflect a paid relationship.

We track clicks on these links in aggregate to understand which resources are useful. At present we receive no compensation for these links. We may enter into affiliate or paid-referral relationships in the future; if and when we do, we will disclose it. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party sites; their policies govern once you leave the Service.

5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember preferences, and measure usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect how the Service functions.

6. Data Retention & Security

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes, after which we delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

7. Your Choices

You can use the core lookup without providing an email or creating an account;
If you receive watched-address notifications, you may opt out at any time using the unsubscribe mechanism or by contacting us;
You can control cookies via your browser.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Future Features

We may introduce paid or account-based features ("ZoneScore Pro"). These may involve creating an account (such as an email and password), payment processing through a third-party processor, and storing your saved searches or lookup history. When we launch such features, we will update this Policy to describe the associated data practices.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, by additional notice.

11. Governing Law

This Policy is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
